In Memory of Mom

Quietly she slipped away before our eyes to embark on her new journey. "Goodbye Mom," I whispered in my mind. Now she can continue to work on that golf swing she loved and missed so much. I felt pain behind my eyes as I struggled not to cry, but Dad's tears pushed me over the edge. I don't ever remember seeing him cry. We sobbed together for a moment in each other's arms.

I'm sad, but very grateful that her suffering is over.

I'm so sorry. I truly wish you the best in understanding that your Mom is in a better place. It's clear that you loved her deeply, and she you. Your posts about her were beautiful and remember, you can always see her again when you look into the mirror.

I know of what I speak. My own Mother died after 3 years of breast cancer when I was 14, on Mother's Day. Still, a difficult memory.

Be then grateful, DJ, that you had so much time to share with this special old soul, and she you. In this, you were both blessed.

Hold the memories close, but with good thoughts, as they were good experiences. You'll see here again, soon enough.

    Best wishes, Mark

  7. i know i can't understand what you're going through but my mom passed away two months ago of metastisized breast cancer. i haven't really come upon any wisdom since then except that it really sucks losing the person who brought you into the world. but i do know that having her around in the state she was in would be just as painful. all the strength in the world to you.

  13. spinz,

i'm so sorry for your loss. you will be in my thoughts and prayers. and when i say prayer, i don't mean in a condescending jeebus way, i mean holding you and the beautiful sushi rolled memories of your momma very close to my heart.

  15. it was wonderful to get to know your mother through your posts on this blog - it is abundantly clear that you are a person full of love, and i'm sure your mother felt very lucky to have such love in her life.

i don't think it matters what age you are, or what age they are, or why they died, or how long you knew... it hurts so much to lose someone you love, especially a parent. i know the pain doesn't go away, but it changes over time, hopefully to a point of peace.

i send good thoughts out to you and your family, and i wish you lots of good, wholesome, restoring food to help you through this :)

  16. Dear Karma, I am so sorry to hear about your loss, and my thoughts are with you. It was good to get to know more about your mom in the last few posts. Although it must hurt terribly right now, you must take comfort in the fact that she is out of her pain and in a better place.
